Repower America

Dear Readers,

Around this time every December, we all take a moment to reflect on what we want to accomplish in the coming New Year.

In 2010, we have a lot we need to get done. The world took some important steps forward in Copenhagen. The result fell far short of what was needed -- in large part because the U.S. Senate did not pass climate and energy legislation before the meeting. The solutions we need to solve the climate crisis are small but within reach -- but only if we choose to act.

Will you make fighting for clean energy and climate one of your New Year's resolutions and join supporters across the country by sharing your commitment on the Repower America Wall?

Over the past year, we've made much progress toward addressing the climate crisis. Each step along the way has moved us closer to a clean energy future for our economy and our planet.

And in 2010, we need to progress further. That's why Al Gore is urging action on climate and clean energy in the U.S. by Earth Day -- April 22, 2010 -- because we can't wait any longer.

Share your commitment to fighting for clean energy and climate. Add Your New Year's Resolution.

Our progress in 2009 showed the power of our movement. Our leaders opened 2009 with a down payment on a clean energy future in the economic stimulus bill -- creating thousands of new jobs. The House of Representatives passed historic clean energy and climate legislation last summer, and the Environmental Protection Agency issued a crucial finding that C02 poses a danger to human welfare.

In just the last two months of 2009, more than 50,000 people have posted to the Repower Wall, creating a stirring and powerful expression of the widespread, majority support for clean energy and climate protection in this country.

We've achieved great things -- but we've got to keep the momentum going and the pressure on. If we don't keep fighting for our climate and our future, there's no telling how long our leaders will delay before they finally take action. And each day they delay, the climate crisis continues unabated.

Let's resolve to make 2010 the year we finally break through.

Thank you for all that you do,

Maggie L. Fox
